 Russian GP No Threat to Silverstone, Says Mosley Friday March 29th, 2002 A Russian Formula One race planned for 2004 does not threaten the British Grand Prix, according to FIA head Max Mosley. A European race, probably from a country currently hosting two Grands Prix a season, is expected to make way for the Moscow event. But International Automobile Federation (FIA) president Mosley said it would not be Silverstone. "It's probably one of the European races... but not Britain," he told the BBC. Silverstone has been at risk in the past due to problems with infrastructure and traffic congestion, and was initially listed this season as a provisional entry on the 17-race calendar. But, as well as major infrastructure works that are under way, the former World War Two airfield has history on its side as the first circuit to host a Formula One race in 1950. Moscow has been lined up for 2004 but the circuit, although designed, has not yet been built.
