Barrichello Forbidden to Criticise Ferrari

Thursday May 24th, 2001

According to reports in the Brazilian press, Rubens Barrichello's new contract with Ferrari will not allow him to criticise the Italian team in public.

Brazilian Barrichello, whose contract was to expire at the end of this season, extended his relationship with Ferrari last Tuesday and will stay at the Maranello-based outfit until the end of 2002.

According to Brazilian newspaper Folha de Sao Paolo, there is a clause in Barrichello's new contract which will forbid him from criticising Ferrari in public, in order to avoid situations like that of the Austrian Grand Prix, where he expressed his unhappiness when the team imposed team orders.

Barrichello was forced to let teammate Michael Schumacher through during the final lap of the race at the A1-Ring, and the Brazilian was not happy with the team's decision.

"I've learnt that I must speak less," said Barrichello.
