Wirth Appointed Reynard Technical Director

Thursday November 8th, 2001

Nick Wirth has been appointed technical director for Reynard Motorsport as they moved quickly to replace Gary Anderson.

Wirth has previously worked for Benetton F1 as Grand Prix chief designer and takes the place of Anderson, who has returned to the Jordan Grand Prix team. And the new Reynard man said he is relishing the challenge ahead of him, as he returns to the sport.

"I'll be joining a strong team of talented engineers and I'm looking forward to working with them," said Wirth. "I've recently taken an interest away from motor racing, but I've always felt there has been unfinished business for me in the sport, now I'm back to take on new challenges."

Wirth began his career at March engineering before founding the Simtek Racing team. He then moved on to Benetton, before taking a two-year break and returning to Reynard Motorsport.
