Peter Sauber and Swiss driver Marcel Fassler have agreed to cancel the test scheduled for September 5 and 6 at Magny Cours with Sauber, it was announced on Thursday.
The 25 year-old from Einsiedeln, near Zurich, was promised a ride by Sauber in July when he won his first race for Mercedes-Benz in Germany's DTM series.
However, due to the fact that Fassler will be testing for the McLaren team two weeks after the test planned with Sauber, the Hinwil-based team have decided to cancel the event.
According to Sauber "a test with the C20 and in particular with the Petronas engine, only two weeks before a test with McLaren-Mercedes, will lead to a direct comparison between the two engines, which is not in the interest of our engine supplier Petronas."
