Schumacher Finds the Net in Imola

Thursday April 12th, 2001

Michael Schumacher found his shooting boots when he scored with a rasping 25-yard drive as the world champion driver captained a Grand Prix select team to a 6-1 win in a charity football match in Imola.

Schumacher was the star of the show in front of 3,000 fans as his side beat a team consisting of selected sports journalists and stars from the world of entertainment.

Although the German got his San Marino race weekend off to a winning start, he was upstaged by Jordan driver Jarno Trulli and Benetton's Giancarlo Fisichella, who scored two apiece.

More than 8,000 (pounds) was raised for charity after Schumacher's second appearance as a footballer in as many races.
